Deputy Greg Sherwood

Deputy Greg Sherwood of the Utah County Sheriffs Department was shot while on duty protecting the public on January 30,2014.  Greg received a wound to the head that luckily only partially penetrated the skull.  He is expected to recover but he still has a ways to go.

Unfortunately one of his fellow deputies, Sgt. Cory Wride, was fatally shot by the same assailant that day.

Utah County Deputies Shot

Greg has been one of our favorite riding buddies throughout the years and has been riding a very old dirt bike that he has been wanting to replace for a few years but finances have not allowed.  We would like to make that wish come true as a thanks for his willingness to place his life in harms way

We sleep safely at night because rough men stand ready to visit violence on those who would harm us.

02/18/2014 - GREG IS HOME!

02/14/2014 - Visited Greg again tonight.  The swelling has reduced quite a bit just from last night. Pain didn't seem to be effecting him as bad.  My heart goes out to Greg.  Imagine fighting pain for over two weeks straight.  How exhausting.

02/13/2014 - Visited Greg tonight in rehab.  He is making progress (slower than he would like) and is still in a fair amount of pain. He is very grateful for the support everyone has given him and is anxious to get out of the hospital.

02/11/2014 - Greg has been moved to Rehab

02/10/2014 Latest Update on Greg: Deputy Greg Sherwood News Conference

UPDATE: 2/9/14 - Greg is posting on Facebook which is a good sign

From Deputy Greg's FB post:

"Getting shot in the head REALLY hurts! It felt like getting slammed in the skull full force with a heavy two hand sledge hammer. I dont know which is worst though....getting shot In the head by an unseen coward, having brain surgery (twice)....or suruviving the trauma unit of the hospital."
